Can i get traffic services on my tomtom go 720 in the USA??? Should I have bought a garmin?

OK, i did all the research (so I thought) and bought a tomtom go 720 thinking "traffic ready" meant I could get traffic updates to my gps but when I went to turn on the services I was surprised to see it didnt have services in the USA. what gives? what am I doing wrong? I'm seriously consider returning this and going for a garmin. what garmin should I get. all i really care about is having a big screen, awesome maps with easy updates, smart ai, text-to-speech for speaking out road names, and auto recalculating routes if i make a wrong turn. i also like a "avoid toll roads" feature but thats not vital thanks in advance.

1. nah tomtom is good. u need bluetooth and you'll have a way better navi than garmin.
